Christmas Wreath

I have started to really love wreaths. For some reason I didn't used to like them all that much but I do now! Here is a really Classic one I made.

Materials:
~ Pie box top
~ Skirt
~ Fake holly/ivy/cranberries
~ Mod podge
~ Hot glue

This came on top of a pie from Marie Callendar's. but you can use anything round.

Lovely black skirt from DI :)

I cut up the skirt into strips and mod-podged some of the shiny layer onto the pie box top. This way all the white was covered up.

Next I added some bows from the satin layer

And as the finishing touch, I hot-glued some holly/ivy and cranberries into place.

Total Cost:
~ Pie box top: $0.00
~ Skirt: $5.00
~ Fake holly/ivy/cranberries: $0.00 (left-over from another project)
~ Mod podge: $0.00
~ Hot glue: $0.00

Christmas Wreath: Total Cost ~ $5.00

Ceramic Jar Labels

I'm finally posting a project! The time I spent actually sitting down working on this wasn't long at all. I just have some other things on my plate right now (an adorable little girl!!) so it took me awhile to finally finish. I'd like to thank C. for not caring about losing half our dinner table for 2 weeks while this sat there waiting to be finished.
I have ceramic jars on my counter for my baking goods. You know, flour, sugar, etc. These are so great to have so things are easily accessible, but sometimes it gets tricky remembering what ingredient is in which jar - especially which one is baking soda and which is baking powder! I had always talked about someday doing vinyl labels for them and then I realized I could do labels for free!

Thank you mod podge!

Materials:
~ ceramic jars
~ scrapbook paper (extra from a Christmas present C and I made)
~ mod podge

I simply cut out pieces of paper that would fit on the lids, wrote the labels, and mod-podged them on :) Easy!

What do you think? Now I'll always remember where everything is.

Total Cost:
~ ceramic jars: $0.00
~ scrapbook paper: $0.00
~ mod podge: $0.00

Ceramic Jar Labels: Total Cost ~ $0.00

Christmas Plaque

I had this mirror left over from when I tried to use that Porcelain Marker for my bathroom quote project (here). You may remember that the marker dried up so fast I couldn't even finish the quote! I ended up using something different and so I had this mirror just sitting on my desk. I decided to use it for Christmas :)

Materials:
~ Mirror
~ Christmas picture
~ Mod Podge

I went through a church magazine and found a Christmas picture that I really liked. I cut it to size and mod podged it onto the mirror.

You could still see the mirror along the top of the picture so I decided to add a little quote. I've given up on using Porcelain markers so I just used a black sharpie and it worked perfectly! (Also MUCH cheaper!!) Since the picture was of Christ I decided to write "O Come Let Us Adore Him"

Here it is!
(The pictures aren't the greatest sorry)

Christmas Plaque:
~ Mirror: $0.00
~ Christmas Picture: $0.00
~ Mod Podge: $0.00

Christmas Plaque: Total Cost ~ $0.00

Enjoy the Journey Clock

I got this idea from Less Than Perfect Life Of Bliss. You can see her original post here

When I saw this project I knew that it was something I wanted to do! We own two clocks so I started deciding which one to use. I hadn't mentioned anything to my husband but he is so supportive I knew that he wouldn't really care if I took our clock apart and totally re-did it :) ...as long as I could put it back together! I took the clock apart and had it sitting out on the table when C. got home from work. He took one look at it and just started smiling and asking me what I was planning next. He's awesome!
Materials:~ Clock~ Map~ Mod Podge~ Scrapbook Paper
Like I mentioned before I got this idea off another blog but, true to form I changed it a little bit. Where's the fun in making something if you don't add a little of you in it right? The first step was to take apart the clock. I should have taken a picture of this, it was actually kind of fun! Just remember how to put it back together!

I went and bought a road map at the gas station and traced out how big of a space I would need for the face. I loved her idea of cutting out a map of where she met her husband. I cut a little slit in it so I could fit it over the arms of the clock. I wanted to still be able to tell what time it is, so I drew out the 12, 6, and 9 (something else was over the 3 spot...stay tuned to find out what! haha) and then drew little lines for the other numbers.

I wanted to add something extra special and I have always loved quotes. So I decided to add a quote onto my map dedicated to my husband. This is the one I decided on. I love it! Life is a journey and I'm so grateful that I have someone so wonderful to share it with!
"The trick, my brethren and sisters, is to enjoy the journey, traveling hand in hand, in sunshine and storm, as companions who love one another." -President Gordon B. Hinckley

After all the drawing I went ahead and mod podged the map onto the face of the clock.

I wanted to change the border of my clock too. I found the perfect scrapbook paper at Hobby Lobby! It has letters and postcards and stamps...all things having to do with travel. So cut out strips and mod podged that all the way around the outside of the clock.

After the mod podge was dry I took a sewing pin with a big head and cut off the pin part. Then I super-glued it to where I first met C.
I put the clock back together and showed it off to my hubby :)

Total Cost:
~Clock: $0.00
~Map: $4.00
~Mod Podge: $0.00
~Scrapbook Paper: $0.59

Flower Plant Wedding Present

My sister-in-law is getting married soon and I wanted to make her something for her shower. I had this old clay pot that wasn't doing anything and I thought it would be cute to use. I also wanted to use some mod podge and the rest of my river stones from my Bathroom Makeover project. Here's what I came up with :)

Materials:
~ Clay pot
~ Fake flowers
~ Newspaper
~ Styrofoam
~ Craft Paper
~ Mod Podge

I bought some cute light-blue argyle craft paper at Hob Lob for only 35 cents. I wrote "Love Blossoms Eternally" and mod podged it onto the front of the pot. I think it's way cute but I hope it's not too cheesy!
Next step was to stick the flowers in the pot. I started out stuffing newspaper inside the pot because I didn't have very many rocks but the flowers didn't stick in very well when I did this. So I went to Hobby Lobby (for the second time today! Seriously I think I'm getting an addiction!) and bought a little round styrofoam to put inside. I still did keep some of the newspaper stacked inside so the styrofoam was close enough to the top. I realized that even after I put in the river stones you could still see the newspaper, so I cut out a circular piece of white paper, painted it brown, and set it inside on top of the styrofoam. I cut up the flower stems using wire cutters and stuck them in the styrofoam! Voila!

Here's me stuffing newspaper inside the pot. I folded it up and placed it on the bottom of the pot. (Apparently this is also an advertisement for Charmin :) haha)

Here's my circular piece of paper that helped cover all that newspaper and styrofoam.

Here's the end product :)

Total Cost:
~ Clay pot: $0.00
~ Fake flowers: $4.00
~ Newspaper: $0.00
~ Styrofoam: $1.89
~ Craft Paper: $0.35
~ Mod Podge: $0.00
